About BeginLift
Strength training, without the gatekeeping.
We started BeginLift around one simple belief: everyone deserves to feel strong and capable in their own body, no matter where they are starting from. So much fitness content is loud, confusing, or really just there to sell you something. We wanted to build the opposite of that.
We write for the complete beginner — the person who has never set foot in a weight room, or who has tried before and walked out feeling lost. We focus on the things that actually matter: sound technique, sensible programming, honest nutrition, and the recovery habits that turn effort into results.
Editorial standards
- Every guide is written for a complete beginner and reviewed for clarity before it is published.
- We reference established exercise-science principles and reputable organizations, listed on our Sources Cited page.
- We update articles as the evidence changes, and each guide shows its last-updated date.
- We do not accept paid placements in our guides, and we do not recommend gear or supplements we would not use ourselves.
- We are not medical professionals. For individual health concerns, we direct readers to a qualified healthcare provider.
Who writes BeginLift
BeginLift is written and maintained by a small team of strength-training writers and coaches who have all been beginners ourselves. We write practical, evidence-informed guides for people starting from zero, and we update our articles as the exercise-science literature and our own coaching experience evolve. We are not medical doctors, and nothing on this site is a substitute for individualized medical advice.
We are not medical doctors, physical therapists, or registered dietitians, and we do not claim to be. For individualized medical, rehabilitation, or nutrition advice, please consult a qualified licensed professional.
